CHPAPTER 2 Performance development ANNUAL REPORT 10,780 Registered claims Appeal Court The Court of Appeal is the second degree of litigation in the Emirate of Dubai. It is competent in looking into contests to verdicts and judgments of First Instance Courts, which are dissatisfied by convicted peoples whether these verdicts are Criminal or Civil. The verdicts issued by this Court may be challenged at the Cassation Court according to the provisions of the Law. The Appeals Court received 10,780 cases in 2019. 1. Paperless Sessions Initiatives: Significant reduction in the number of papers printed during hearings down to one paper containing a summary of the decisions needed by the judge during the hearing. 2. Guidance manual for announcement procedures: Preparation and online publication of a manual for announcement procedures in accordance with the regulatory bylaw. 3. Workshops for the Civil Procedures Law: Coordination of workshops for the judges on the regulatory bylaw.
