CHPAPTER 2 Performance development ANNUAL REPORT 15,393 Registered claims Labor Court One of the specialized courts at the Courts of First Instance, with jurisdiction over major and minor labor suits regulated by Federal Law no. 8 of 1980, as amended and Federal Law no. 15 of 2017 on Domestic Workers. This court is chaired by a court chief who reports to the Head of the Courts of First Instance. The Labor Court received 15,393 cases in 2019. Labor Court initiatives The relevant action teams at the Labor Court launched a set of initiatives towards smart transformation, in conjunction with the Year of Tolerance launched by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in addition to continuous improvement efforts: 1 . Smart Publication Initiative at the Labor Court: This initiative responds to the regulatory bylaw of the Civil Procedure Code which stipulated that the defendant be served through publication in the event that his address cannot be reached, adopting technological solutions to achieve a number of goals, including shortening the customer’s journey, reducing cost, saving time, and increasing the speed of litigation procedures, and also allowing the activation of cooperation with external 72
