CHPAPTER 1 CHPAPTER 3 CHPAPTER 4 MAIN INDEX Tolerance and Amicable Settlements The Dubai Courts focus on the values of tolerance is an integral part of its efforts and vision, which was demonstrated by the Tolerance initiative launched by the Courts in 2017, and evolved year after year until 2019, which formed a qualitative development in this aspect when His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE declared that 2019 is the Year of Tolerance, which saw a collective celebration by everyone - institutions and individuals - of this noble human value, and inamannerthatreflectstheoriginalityofthe Emirati society and its high values. Therefore, the year 2019 saw an additional focus in tolerance and amicable settlements efforts, with the aim of speedy decision- making and satisfaction of both parties, reducing requests and visits, reducing reliance on attorneys, increasing resource efficiency, facilitating smart upgrades, cutting fees, speedy execution, education and consultation, reducing the length of litigation, reducing the burden on judges, reducing the proportion of cases, and increasing the proportion of reconciliation and settlements, which benefits all parties and stakeholders. The following segments are usually targeted to embody tolerance: Families and heirs, individuals and workers, non-Muslims, corporates, and individuals of other cultures of all nationalities. The types of settlements and tolerance as per the tolerance and settlements system at Dubai Courts are classified into the following stages: Before litigation, during litigation and at execution, under certain procedures that guarantee the satisfaction of both parties.
